Steve Kerr: “We didn’t lose this match because of the referees”

While dominating the match, the Warriors lost the thread in the second quarter of Game 3. Weighed down by their faults and their loss of the ball, Draymond Green and his comrades thus released the “momentum”, the winger strongly implying that the whistles of the referees revived Anthony Davis and the Lakers.

But for Steve Kerr, Golden State is sealed alone, and arbitration is not the main problem.

“We did not lose this match because of the referees”, said the coach. “There is therefore no reason to complain. There were decisions we didn’t like. But after every game, both coaches can say that. It’s not about anything other than our own performance. »

His players have however multiplied the technical faults but, for Steve Kerr, it was rather the sign of a general frustration, while the Warriors lost ground, by multiplying the errors.

A chaos to avoid

” It’s disappointing “continued the coach. “Because we felt like we were in control of the game, we had good possessions in defence, we took care of the ball. And then the fouls, ball losses and rushing possessions came at the same time. We need to do a better job in this area.”

The throw deficit (37 for the Lakers against 17 for the Warriors) put forward by Golden State fans is ultimately only the consequence, and not the cause, of the problems of his team, to hear Steve Kerr. Especially since, this season, Los Angeles is the team that shoots the most, and Golden State the one that shoots the least…

It is therefore a question of limiting the problem, by avoiding reviving such black holes.

“There were a lot of good things”recalled Stephen Curry. “We were at +11 with seven minutes to play (before half-time). And then they did a big series, their audience woke up. This is the atmosphere that we face on the outside. Every possession counts. It reminded us of him.”
