Steve Kerr delighted to see Mike Dunleavy Jr. take over from Bob Myers

ith the extension of Draymond Green and the arrival of Chris Paul, therefore the departure of Jordan Poole, the Warriors’ offseason has been lively. But not only at the level of the workforce, since there has also been movement in the offices. And not least.

Bob Myers, the architect of the dynasty, decided to leave Golden State and Mike Dunleavy Jr. took over. A choice that suits Steve Kerr.

“It’s obvious, given that he has been here for five years,” believes the coach of the Warriors for the Mercury News. “He obviously learned alongside Bob Myers, and he and I have built a relationship over the past few years. We spent a lot of time together, our wives are friends and it was the best possible scenario for me. If Myers were to leave, then I was hoping Mike would be the one to replace him. »

Is he also satisfied with the choices of the new GM?

“He is aware that a window is still open. He reinforced our group with very good veterans and better balanced it, between old and young. We needed players like Dario Saric and Cory Joseph, who know the role of a leader in a squad. Mike understood that we needed this. »

For Steve Kerr, despite the difficulties and the files to manage, Mike Dunleavy Jr. has therefore succeeded in his first summer.

“It’s not an easy position to take on a team that is at the end of the cycle and not at the start. He is facing a huge challenge. He has the confidence of all the players, coaches, leaders, because we know him well. He knows we have a special group but little time in front of us. The movements he made this summer show it. »
