Steve Kerr and Draymond Green beg Warriors to extend Klay Thompson

Did we witness the end of a dynasty last night at Golden 1 Center? Perhaps since the Warriors did not reach the playoffs, and nothing says the Curry-Green-Thompson trio will still be together next season. First to appear at a press conference, Steve Kerr commented on this premature elimination after a mentally trying season.

“That’s life… That’s how it works… You can’t stay at the top forever” recalls the Warriors coach. “There’s going to be a lot to think about this offseason.”

Starting with the future of Klay Thompson, free agent. It is rumored that the Magic are ready to offer him a salary of $30 million. He wants to extend to the Warriors. His good end to the season proved that he still had something under the hood. But his failure last night (0 out of 10 on shots!) hurts a lot. Is he still the right man to bring the Warriors back to the top? Isn’t this trio a “has-been”?

A “Big Three” together forever?

“I know he had a difficult evening, but I hope we can extend Klay. Steph and Draymond are already under contract, and I hope we can continue next season. We need Klay back to spread the game and his presence is so important to the rhythm of our offense. He still has many good years ahead of him. I know I speak for the entire franchise: we want him back. Given what he represents and seeing how good he still is, we really want him to come back.”

Same speech at Draymond Green : “We experienced incredibly high moments together. We've had some shitty times together. We want to continue what we have done together. They did it with me. They did it with Stephen. They always did it with the three of us. When Klay tore a knee ligament, they gave him $160 million…”

But they are no longer the same leaders, and Klay Thompson is no longer the same age. Response from July 1st.
