Stephon Castle eager to have Chris Paul as mentor

When he was selected by the Spurs, in fourth position in the Draft, Stephon Castle did not know that he was going to team up with Chris Paul, released by the Warriors and who would join San Antonio a few days later.

The arrival of the playmaker in Texas has strengthened the Wake Forest connection with the Spurs and will above all offer a model of choice to the rookie, with one of the references among playmakers for two decades.

“I'm very happy. Having a player like that with whom we can develop, who can be a bit of a mentor, it's going to be nice,” announcement the former Connecticut player. “Growing up, you always look up to Chris Paul, he's one of the best point guards in NBA history. Knowing that he's one of my teammates now, it's an incredible feeling.”

Obviously, with such a CV, and to support Victor Wembanyama with whom the duo promises to be very spectacular, Chris Paul will take the starting spot promised to Stephon Castle at the time of the Draft.

What he loses in playing time, the rookie will gain in advice from the former Suns point guard and shared experience. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Devin Booker can attest to that. “It's going to be invaluable. Chris is going to be huge for him, as well as for the others.”warns Kenny Trevino, the Spurs coach during the Summer League.

The Texan rookie didn't waste any time: he has already noted down a few questions he wants to ask “CP3”. “I want to know how he reads the game, with the ball on pick-and-roll. He's a specialist for that. I'm looking forward to him giving me advice for those situations, to add them to my game.”he concluded.
