Stephen Silas to lead Team USA during qualifying

Since the announced departure of Steve Kerr at the end of the Paris Olympic Games, won against France, Team USA no longer has a coach. We know that the rest should be handled by Erik Spoelstra or Tyronn Lue, assistants to the Warriors coach in recent years. In the meantime, it's Stephen Silas who collects the keys, announces the American Federation.

For what ? Because the qualifying windows for international competitions always fall during the NBA regular season and the American selection is used to having a different coach (and players too) for these times and another for major competitions.

Thus, two qualifying windows for the AmeriCup are still to be played. In November, on the 22nd and 25th, against Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Then in February 2025, on the 20th and 23rd, against the same opponents. For these four matches, it is therefore the former coach of the Rockets and assistant at Detroit last season who will be on the bench.

Stephen Silas will be assisted by Patrick Ewing! No more, no less. One more experience for the former Knicks All-Star, double Olympic champion (1984, 1992), who is coming out of a rather mixed stint in the NCAA after leading Georgetown between 2017 and 2023.

Finally, third man announced from this staff: Keith Smart, former coach in the NBA (263 matches in Cleveland, Golden State and Sacramento) and assistant.
