Sacramento is almost at the same transition times as last season, and the California franchise can count on a Domantas Sabonis still imperial at post 5.
The Lithuanian pivot is simply having the best season of his career, and his impact under the boards is felt on a statistical level since Domantas Sabonis set a new franchise record last night with a 47th double-double in the victory against the Bucks ( 129-94), with 22 points at 10/14, 11 rebounds and 8 assists.
The All-Star largely contributed to his team's near-perfect first half, with two huge posters on Brook Lopez along the way. He thus dethrones Jerry Lucas, who had accumulated 46 double-doubles in a row during the 1967/68 season, when the franchise was in Cincinnati. This is the 60th of the season in 64 matches for Domantas Sabonis!
“It’s pretty crazy, to set a record for a franchise. My teammates are there and doing their best to help me do my job. I want to thank the fans. They're in on everything, they follow everything, and they love it all. It means a lot to me”, did he declareemphasizing the public's reaction to it.
Regularity embodied
De'Aaron Fox did not fail to congratulate him at a press conference for this record which also symbolizes his consistency. The leader notably recalled that Domantas Sabonis had not yet missed a single match.
“Every night, he pulls out all the stops for us”, did he slip. “Like I said before, I feel like people don’t realize it. No one, apart from us, talks about it. This is clearly a difficult accomplishment to achieve, and that's why there aren't many players who have achieved it. He's ready to play every night. He hasn't missed a game this year. He's on his way to play all 82 games, knock on wood. And he doesn’t just play in these games, he contributes and he makes his impact in each of these games.”
The sparkling form of Domantas Sabonis is also illustrated by a rather unreal statistic. Since January 1, he is number 1 in the NBA in rebounding, assists, as well as cumulative double-doubles and triple-doubles. His statistics over the period? 21 points at 63% shooting, 15 rebounds and 9 assists.
