Stats & Highlights | The Kings scuttle against the Bulls, the Nets spoil
March 5, 2024
The candidates for the final stages did not have the best of evenings. In addition to the Thunder's defeat at the Lakers, the Kings and the Nets will be able to blame each other on Monday after having wasted opportunities which could weigh heavily at the end of the season.
The Kings will only have themselves to blame after completely missing their end of the match against the eye-catching Bulls. The Californians led by 22 units with just over 15 minutes to play before completely collapsing in the face of Chicago's comeback, led by a DeMar DeRozan clutch (33 points including 19 in the 4th quarter). Without Domantas Sabonis, on the bench for six fouls, Sacramento did not score a single point in the last two minutes, losing three crucial balls. With a career-high 37 points, Coby White was also decisive while the Bulls now count three victories in advance on Atlanta.
The Hawks will at least be able to rejoice at seeing their main pursuer, Brooklyn, have lost ingloriously against the Grizzlies who were deprived of all their major players. After completely relaunching themselves for the race for tenth place by dominating Atlanta twice last week, the Nets fell back into their mistakes, against a team they had beaten by 25 points a week earlier… Luke Kennard improvised as leader of the evening (25 points at 6/9 from afar, 7 assists), when alone Nick Claxton reached the 20 units opposite.
In the last match of the evening, Washington continued its path of the cross by losing to Utah, deprived of Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler, then of its rookies Keyonte George (sick) and Taylor Hendricks (sprained toe) during the match. The duo Jordan Clarkson – Collin Sexton took over offensively (67 points between them), John Collins taking care of the other side of the floor with a career-high six blocks. The only bright spot for the Wizards, who also lost their 15th game in a row and Marvin Bagley was injured in the back during the game, Bilal Coulibaly took over and he was in the starting five.
Minnesota–Portland Milwaukee – LA Clippers LA Lakers – Oklahoma City
