Stats & Highlights | Seventh straight win for Suns, Spurs avoid franchise record

Even though the Nuggets were without their starting five, they were resilient. But the Suns have kept their winning streak alive, with seven straight wins now. This is the best series in the league at the end of the season.

For its part, San Antonio saved a piece of furniture, one might say. By beating the Blazers, Spurs picked up a 21st victory this season. At least, despite a failed season, they avoided the worst record in franchise history, remaining at 20 wins in 1996/1997, the year before Tim Duncan arrived.

San Antonio–Portland: 129-127

The public of Austin was delighted: he saw a close match. For their last home games of the regular season, the Spurs relocated to Austin and it was the local “stars” who shone. Keita Bates-Diop and Julian Champagnie, who played together in the G-League with the Austin Spurs, compiled 49 points.

Spurs were still seven points behind with five minutes remaining. Then they will score three award-winning baskets in three minutes, including two by Bates-Diop, to make the difference and win.

Phoenix-Denver: 119-115

Guaranteed to finish top of the Western Conference, the Nuggets sent their C team against the Suns. No starter was present: no Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., Jamal Murray, nor Kentavious Caldwell-Pope…

With 31 points, Bruce Brown therefore made do with the means at hand, and Denver even led in the third quarter, but the Suns had the last laugh. Chris Paul and Kevin Durant hit 3-pointers (seven baskets for the first, six for the second) and the Suns took control in the course of the last act.
