Stats & Highlights | Giannis Antetokounmpo too strong for Indiana, Minnesota tears away in Charlotte | NBA
February 16, 2022
The Bucks were on two straight losses and Giannis Antetokounmpo had not played the last game. The reigning champions and their superstar reassured against Indiana: a victory for the first, 50 points for the second.
For Wolves, this overtime victory against Charlotte is precious. Karl-Anthony Towns and his band are hanging on to seventh place in the West and they have a small lead over the two Los Angeles franchises (three wins over the Clippers, almost five over the Lakers).
On the other hand, the Hornets clearly need to breathe: eighth defeat in nine games…
Philadelphia–Boston Miami–Dallas Atlanta–Cleveland New Orleans–Memphis Phoenix–LA Clippers
Minnesota – Charlotte: 126-120 (after overtime)
Both teams had their moment in the first half. The Hornets started with a 5-0, which was followed by a 19-2 Wolves, before Charlotte regained control, with a 23-8. James Borrego’s men have control in the second half, especially since Anthony Edwards has not been there since returning from the locker room, injured in the ankle, and he will not return from the game.
But Minnesota makes the effort in the last act, with nine offensive rebounds, and manages to pass a 15-4 in the last minutes. Miles Bridges equalizes at 3-pts then on free throws and the two teams thus go into overtime. Karl-Anthony Towns (39 points, 15 rebounds) scored seven points in those five minutes and the Hornets missed out with a 2/9 shot and seven fouls committed.

Milwaukee–Indiana: 128-119
Giannis Antetokounmpo is fine. Very well even. The MVP of the 2021 Finals had not played against Portland, hit in the knee. He was back against the Pacers and with 12 points and big dunks in the first quarter, he put his stamp on the game.
The Greek adds 6 points in the second quarter, then 13 in the third. He dominates, the Bucks too, however, the Pacers are eye-catching with Buddy Hield (36 points) and Tyrese Haliburton (17 units). In the last quarter, the star of Milwaukee definitely drives the point home with 19 points to dismiss Indiana! Result: 50 points and a win.
