Spurs – Blazers: successful debut for Stephon Castle

UConn coach Dan Hurley must have been in front of his screen to watch the debuts of two of his former players, Stephon Castle And Donovan ClinganThe Spurs leader and the Blazers pivot were eager to get to grips, and this first confrontation turned to the advantage of the higher ranked player in the Draft, since San Antonio won 83-77.

Starting, Castle was the best player on the court with his 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. He brings rhythm, physicality in defense, and he is in control. There are only players his age in front, but he is not in a hurry and he showed mastery in his passes and his game management. On the other hand, his 8 out of 21 shooting clearly reflects his problem with shooting. Castle probably needs to work a lot on his gestures, and he tried hard to apply himself. His trajectories were not identical from one outside shot to another, and that results in a few bricks, even air balls. Starting alongside him, Sidy Cissoko accumulates 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 interceptions.

Opposite, Clingan did worse: 1 out of 8 on shots! However, there was no physical monster opposite, and he dominated under both circles with 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Maybe he should stray less… At his side, Rayan Rupert signs a complete score with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists on 6 out of 11 on shots.
