After missing the game against the Nets, Joel Embiid and James Harden were dressed for the reception of the Cavaliers at the Wells Fargo Center. A meeting marked by the debut of Donovan Mitchell with Cleveland.
The former Jazz fullback did quite well with 16 points and 5 assists on 6 of 9 on shots, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, but it was the Sixers who snatched the victory thanks to a final basket of Show Harrell. A success (113-112) in which all the star players did not take part in the second half.
We must therefore look closely at the first period to find out more about the two teams, and we will remember the new good outing of Tyrese Maxey, the best player of the game with 21 points at 9 of 11 on shots. As against the Nets, he is the most prominent, and he eclipses a running-in James Harden, despite a nice ankle break on Dean Wade at the end of the first half.
Joel Embiid did not have to force his talent to accumulate 12 points and 6 rebounds. PJ Tucker made his taste for dirty work appreciated with some offensive rebounds and defense. Coming off the bench, De’Anthony Melton confirmed he would be highly valuable, while Harrell, a very late starter, walked on the Cavaliers after the break.
In Cleveland, the Mitchell-Garland pair combined well, and without Evan Mobley, and now Lauri Markkanen, gone to Jazz, the team leaned heavily on the backs.
Holder, Kevin Love shot only 3-pointers and Jarrett Allen ran into Embiid. Off the bench, the backs also stand out with 12 points for Raul Neto and 11 for Sharife Cooper.
