Shooting leaves nine injured in Denver on sidelines of Nuggets title celebration

While the Nuggets won the first title in their ABA / NBA history, the city of Denver could explode to celebrate the coronation of Nikola Jokic and his teammates.

A party unfortunately ruined by a shooting following an altercation between several people.

Nine people were injured and three of them are in critical condition, Denver police said. The latter explained that a suspect had been arrested, and that he had also been shot.

Police aren’t yet sure if the shooting had anything to do with the Nuggets’ title celebrations, but the venue was overflowing with hundreds of fans who had come downtown to celebrate the victory.

Unfortunately, shootings are now common in the United States (like in Milwaukee last year, after Game 6 of the conference semi-final against the Celtics) since Gun Violence Archive lists already 291 “mass shootings” with at least four injured since the beginning of the year. That’s almost two a day…
