Shaquille O’Neal becomes “president of the basketball branch” of Reebok

To return to the basketball market, after its acquisition by Authentic Brands Group in 2022, the Reebok brand simply sought out the two most famous names in its history: Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson.

The two Hall of Famers have just been named president and vice-president of the brand’s basketball branch, we learn Boardroom.

A return to basics for Shaq, the first player to have his signature shoe at Reebok in 1992 and who for a time wanted to buy the brand, then for Allen Iverson whose first shoe, the famous “Question”, made history sneakers.

“We brought together two of our historic athletes and entrusted them with real management positions within our company”explains Todd Krinsky, CEO of Reebok. “This is a unique initiative in our sector. »

The two MVPs will thus be more or less in competition with other NBA colleagues: Tony Parker, ambassador and advisor at adidas, or Kyrie Irving, now creative director at Anta. What will be the mission of the former Lakers player?

“We want to do things differently. This is what made our reputation at the time and we want to remain faithful to that today,” announces Shaquille O’Neal. “A big part of my role will be leveraging my network to create connections, connect the brand with players and help them grow through their partnership with Reebok. »
