Shai Gilgeous-Alexander happier than ever in Oklahoma City

Between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunderit’s a love story that seems made to last. Not content with being launched towards a first MVP title and therefore being part of a team candidate for the title, the Canadian says he feels better than ever within this franchise which he joined in the summer of 2019.

I love Oklahoma City and I can't see a world I don't find myself in. Oklahoma City » he assuredon the sidelines of the (lost) shock against the Cavaliers. “ I feel comfortable where I am. I like where I am. I love the people in this organization, who are around me, and these are the things that matter to me. »

At the heart of his best career season (31.3 points, 6.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.2 blocks), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander cannot dream of a better setting and better context as he enters his best years as a basketball player.

It's not the size that matters

And this, even if it does not operate in one of the largest cities in the United States but “simply” in the small market of Oklahoma.

I go to work every day with a smile » adds the man who will celebrate his 27th birthday in a few months. “ Personally, [la taille] market doesn't matter, money doesn't matter either, up to a certain stage. But as long as I enjoy what I do at the highest level and as long as I like the people I'm around, I'm fine with it.. »

Under contract with the Thunder until 2027, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander must receive approximately $115 million by the end of his lease. He therefore has what he can see coming and, alongside Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort and Alex Caruso, he is also in a good position to play leading roles for the long term.

Eligible for a (juicy) contract extension this summer, “SGA” therefore has no reason to leave, since financially and sportingly, all the lights are green for him. The fans and managers of Oklahoma City, even if not very worried, can be calm.
