Shaedon Sharpe ruins Brandon Miller and Nick Smith Jr’s great outings

If Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson (injured), have already put an end to their Summer League, Brandon Miller was able to reassure himself this night by delivering his best performance against Portland Shaedon Sharpe, even if his team has not yet won the slightest victory.

Charlotte’s new nugget showed her advantage on two big streaks in the first half. First there was a 2+1, a hook and an alley-oop in transition served by Nick Smith Jr to put him on his feet in a balanced first quarter (29-26).

Portland then took the lead, notably with a good passage from Rayan Rupert, including a 15-point lead with less than three minutes remaining (51-36). But then again, Brandon Miller came out of the woodwork, actively participating in a 12-0 for the Hornets with a 3-pointer followed by another 2+1.

Shaedon Sharpe kills the match

At -5 at the break (53-48), the Hornets were once again able to count on Brandon Miller to resist Kris Murray (19 points) and Shaedon Sharpe. The number 2 of the Draft notably added two 3-point baskets and a big tomar in order to stay in contact (68-68).

In the last act, it was Nick Smith Jr and Shaedon Sharpe who went blow for blow. And while the leader of the Hornets had just brought his people down to -1 after a great move, the Blazer killed the match with a 3-point shot at the head of the racket (94-90). Solid until the end, the Blazers winger scored his team’s last shots to secure the victory, 97-93.

Even though he only scored 3 points in the fourth quarter, it was undoubtedly Brandon Miller’s best outing in the Summer League with a nice line of stats at the finish, at 26 points to 8/ 15 on shots, including 3/6 from 3-pointers, 7/7 from free throws, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks for 1 lost ball in 31 minutes.
