Sergio Scariolo set to remain at the helm of Spain until 2028

La Roja relies on stability. According to AS, Sergio Scariolo should thus remain at the head of the Spanish men's selection until 2028, i.e. until the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The only condition for this new lease is that Elisa Aguilar remains president of the Spanish Basketball Federation, during the May elections, but as there is a good chance that she will be the only candidate…

Currently, Spain does not yet have its ticket for the Paris Olympic Games, after finishing in 9th position in the last World Cup. But with a TQO at home (Valencia) and affordable opponents (Angola, Lebanon, Bahamas, Finland and Poland), the Iberian selection still has a good chance of being present.

What a new opportunity to give new nightmares to French fans? This is because even if the golden generation of Spanish basketball is gradually retiring, Sergio Scariolo has caused the Blues to suffer enormously, still in the final of EuroBasket 2022…

At the head of La Roja from 2009 to 2012 then since 2015, the Italian technician notably won the 2019 World Cup but also the Euro 2009, 2011, 2015 and therefore 2022. Without forgetting the silver medal at the London Olympics, in 2012, the bronze medal in Rio, in 2016, as well as the bronze medal at Euro 2017, in Turkey.
