Serbia shows its ambitions for the Olympic Games

Serbia has (yet) had no luck in the final. Already diminished by absences since the start of the competition, without this preventing remarkable performances, against Germany, new problems arose: Ognjen Dobric was injured, Nikola Milutinov was diminished and Bogdan Bogdanovic was ill .

It was not easy to win, even if the Serbs were valiant and solid, only losing at the end of the match. But it’s still a silver medal for this country…

“I have already been second, I would like to win gold too, to end the tournament with a victory”, book Bogdan Bogdanovic at Eurohoopsalready defeated in 2014 in the final of a World Cup and in 2016 in the final of the Olympic Games. “Unfortunately, luck was not on our side. We missed shots and opportunities. I’m happy and proud of these guys. From day one, no one believed in this group. We worked from the start and we achieved something. »

Indeed, because finishing a World Cup in the final while we are playing with so many important absentees, it is very strong. Nikola Jokic, Vasilije Micic or even Nikola Kalinic were still missing, just that! Without forgetting Borisa Simanic, who had a kidney removed during the competition.

Obviously, if the MVP of the 2023 Finals and double MVP of the regular season (202 and 2022) joins Serbia for the Paris Olympic Games, Serbia will be able to have very, very big ambitions.

“We keep our heads high and our goal is to do better at the Olympic Games,” announces Aleksa Avramovic. “No one believed in us, no one imagined that we would go to the Games, yet we did it,” continues Filip Petrusev. “At the moment it’s hard, but we fought and we can be proud. »
