Scottie Barnes will indeed hit the jackpot with the Raptors!

Called to embody the future of Raptors for several months now, Scottie Barnes will become its new face for good, because ESPN announces that he will extend for the maximum, over five years, within the Canadian franchise!

In the event of an appearance on an All-NBA Team, MVP title or Defender of the Year title, the 2022 Rookie of the Year will receive $270 million (i.e. 30% of salary cap of his team). Otherwise, he will be satisfied with “only” 225 million dollars (25% of the salary cap).

A decision that could not be more logical on the part of Torontowhile Scottie Barnes is coming off a successful season individually (All-Star), with 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 interceptions on average (at 48% shooting, including 34% at 3-points, and 78% on free throws).

His room for improvement remains significant and it is his leaders who are rubbing their hands, even if they will now have to properly surround their 22-year-old winger to regain the heights of the Eastern Conference. As a reminder, the Raptors remain in a 2023–24 financial year with 25 wins and 57 losses (12th place in the standings)…
