Scoot Henderson highlights the importance of Team Ignite in his journey

After four years of existence, Team Ignite will disappear, since its interest is now less strong with the sponsorship available in the NCAA. Among the players who have passed through this training and who are currently shining in the NBA, there are Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga in particular. Then, a little further down, Scoot Henderson.

The Portland rookie, who wore the colors of Team Ignite between 2021 and 2023, declared that he was not “surprised” by this disappearance. “There are several reasons which explain this stop”, he begins without saying more.

Scoot Henderson prefers to praise this program, which allowed him to train to prepare for the NBA.

“I can only think of those who played on this team and made an impact for themselves and the world. I want to thank the people at Ignite, I really do,” explains the player. “The people you never see. They don't get enough credit for what they contributed. The coaches too, who brought in high school students to bring them up to standard in a few weeks to play against adults who have families. We don't see all that. We see the defeats and the bad results but we don’t see their daily lives. »

With more defeats than victories since its creation and a last season with only 6 wins in 46 matches, the results have indeed been very negative. But for Henderson, the essential has been achieved. “From my point of view, they helped me a lot to become who I am now. I can never thank them enough”he concludes.
