Year in and year out, the Lakers remain one of the most attractive teams for broadcasters, and while the NBA has just concluded a $76 billion deal for the next TV rights, ESPN/ABC and TNT have chosen to broadcast 39 of 82 regular season games Lakers next season. It's almost every other game.
LeBron James' Lakers will therefore be the team most broadcast on the national network, and the Warriors, although absent from the playoffs, follow closely behind them with 36 broadcasts. The Celtics, NBA champions, and the Knicks complete the podium with 34 of their games broadcast on national television. The Spurs of Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul will be broadcast 21 times.
A modifiable calendar
Conversely, some franchises do not attract media at all, and the Pistons, Blazers and Raptors will only be visible four times this season. Last season, eight teams had only one game on the national network. They were the Pacers, Magic, Raptors, Wizards, Pistons, Hornets, Blazers and Rockets.
Depending on the results of the first half of the season, ABC, ESPN and TNT are changing their schedules. Last season, they had canceled many Grizzlies games.
