Without making any noise, the Spurs continue their interesting off-season, as ESPN and The Athletic announce the re-signing of Sandro Mamukelashvili And Charles Bassey for one year and $2.2 million each. That is the minimum salary.
A decision that could be expected, the Georgian and the Nigerian being among the most appreciated players in the locker room at San Antonio. It is not Gregg Popovich who will say the opposite, nor Victor Wembanyama, they who have never failed to praise the human and basketball qualities of the two interiors.
Present with the Spurs since March 2023, Sandro Mamukelashvili has a minimal role coming off the bench (4.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists on average), but his importance is measured beyond the statistics.
The same goes for Charles Bassey (3.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists on average), who is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and should be back in the first half of next season.
Sandro Mamukelashvili and Charles Bassey will in any case continue to support Victor Wembanyama in the Texan racket, as well as Zach Collins (or even Harrison Barnes, Jeremy Sochan and Keldon Johnson in the small ball).
