Thanks to the rest of the Boston stars, Sam Hauser has been heating up for three weeks, and last night, he signed his 4th game with 20 points or more since March 11. After scoring 22 points against Portland, 30 against Washington, 23 against Chicago, he planted 25 in Charlotte. Ideal when a Tatum or a Brown are spared.
“The guys are aware that it’s a weapon” explains Joe Mazzulla. “When we get to the second or third variation of our offense, and especially when teams are defending us a certain way, it really frees up guys like Sam.”
Ball circulation and movement provide space for shooters, and when it comes to the 3rd most skillful shooter in the NBA (43.3% this season), this can do a lot of damage. The player knows that if he stands out, he will receive the ball and be able to take an open shot.
Focus only on your shot
“I find that we always make the right pass and read the game well. […] JT causes a lot of double holds and defensive help and he is capable of making the right decision in these situations.” appreciates Hauser, author of 7 out of 11 at 3-points against the Hornets. The Celtics replacement finished one unit behind the record of Eddie House, author of 8 3-point baskets coming off the bench against Sacramento one evening in January 2009. He will be content to equal Payton Pritchard, also author of 7 shots at 3-pointer off the bench.
“It feels pretty good.” If I can position my feet well and get my momentum going, I know the shot has a good chance of going in.” he reacts on the microphone of Brian Scalabrine, former teammate of Eddie House. Seemingly gifted at golf, Hauser is questioned by Drew Carter about the good days returning to Boston and his future outings on the greens.
“We need to go get a ring first.” he replies. To imitate House, champion in 2008 with Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.
