After delivering two rather interesting first seasons in Detroit, Saddiq Bey is between two waters in his career, looking for a second wind to be able to take off again. Sent to Atlanta in February 2023, the winger did not find the expected environment and played on alternating current, until his rupture of an anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last March which ended his season.
Having reached the end of his contract, he was kindly pushed aside by Atlanta, which had moved on to new plans with the arrival of Zaccharie Risacher at the Draft and the departure of Dejounte Murray. It seems that offers were not jostling for the unprotected free agent who finally chose to sign for the Wizards for “only” $20 million over three years.
The bet is twofold, for Washington first since the DC franchise will have to ensure that Saddiq Bey finds his best level. For the player, a native of Maryland, it will be a question of taking advantage of a team in reconstruction and a return to his native land to try to get healthy again. After all, Saddiq Bey is only 25 years old and the field is clear on the wing in Washington, where only Corey Kispert remained as a true position 3 since the departure of Deni Avdija to Portland.
