Russell Westbrook becomes the ninth best passer in history

He only needed three assists and he did the minimum. Russell Westbrook therefore distributed three assists against the Knicks, which allowed him to reach a total of 9062 in career.

One more than Isiah Thomas, the legendary Pistons point guard in the 1980s, NBA champion in 1989 and 1990. The Clippers point guard is now the ninth best passer in NBA history.

“It’s obvious that being part of this ranking is great”, commented on the 2017 MVP after the meeting. “As a playmaker, and given the comments that I have endured in my career, to be in the best passers is something. »

Paul George obviously took the opportunity to pay tribute to his teammate.

“He’s a Hall of Famer, one of the greatest point guards of all time. You can’t compare Westbrook to any other player. He went his own way and was unique in that way. He is among the greatest, the best in history. We must render to Caesar what belongs to Caesar. »

To occupy eighth place in this ranking, owned by Oscar Robertson, it will probably take two seasons since the former Bucks star has 9,887 assists, more than 800 ahead of the former Thunder player.
