Yet four times the best defender in the NBA and several times All-Star, Rudy Gobert continues to be the scapegoat of former NBA stars, and even some current players like Draymond Green. Once again, it was Shaq who attacked the Frenchman. Guest on Complex, Shaquille O'Neal answered the following question: “Who is the worst player in the NBA?”. And Shaq replied, ” Rudy Gobert“Why? Because he feels he doesn't justify his contract and salary, and that players like him and Ben Simmons have “broken the system.”
“I'll tell you why. If you sign a $250 million contract, show me $250,” O'Neal justifies himself. “There's a reason I walk funny today and can't turn my head, and that's because I gave my $120 million all I had. There's guys who are making fun of the system, who are making all this money and can't play. I don't respect guys like that. Every time I make those comments, people think I hate them, but it's a fact. There's teachers, firefighters, doctors who have real jobs and get paid shit.”
Very often silent in the face of attacks, Gobert, for once, came out of his silence, and he responded to Shaq on social networks. “It's sad to see someone who has accomplished as much as you, Shaq, in both sports and business, be swayed by money and someone else's actions. I understand the entertainment aspect, but unlike some people, you don't need that kind of thing to stay relevant.”
