As in January, the NBA elected Victor Wembanyama (Spurs) and Brandon Miller (Hornets) like Rookies of the month in the Western Conference and the Eastern Conference.
For Victor Wembanyama, this is obviously not surprising, as he dominated the debates individually last month. Displaying no less than… 21.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.9 blocks and 2.0 interceptions on average (!) over twelve games (two victories), 47% shooting, 41% 3-pointers and 83% shooting- frank…
Quite simply the seventh time that a player has averaged 20/10/4/3/2 over a month, since 1984/85. And that’s a big first for a beginner!
The competition was, admittedly, a bit less tough for Brandon Miller on the other side of the country, but he didn't steal his reward either. This is evidenced by his 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 interceptions on average over thirteen games (five wins), at 45% shooting, 37% 3-pointers and 88% free throws.
After the Chet Holmgren – Jaime Jaquez Jr. doublet in November/December, it is now the turn of the Victor Wembanyama – Brandon Miller doublet to achieve the double in January/February.
