This was to be expected and, for his first two trophies of Rookies of the month, the NBA finally chose Chet Holmgren and not Victor Wembanyama in the West, while it is Jaime Jaquez Jr. which is rewarded in the East.
With 17.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 blocks on average over 18 games, without forgetting a place in the Top 3 of the Western Conference for the Thunder (12-6), Chet Holmgren obviously did not steal his title. Especially since he shoots 54% on target, 41% on 3-pointers and 87% on free throws in October/November.
Victor Wembanyama a little too short
Certainly, Victor Wembanyama was not left out statistically (19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.6 assists and 1.3 interceptions), but his waste (27% at 3-points and 3.5 turnovers) coupled with bad results of Spurs (3-15) got the better of his candidacy.
As for Jaime Jaquez Jr, the astonishing rookie of the Heat (11-8) drafted in 18th position, he triumphed over Ausar Thompson and Brandon Miller, with his 12.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 interceptions on average, at nice percentages of 53% shooting, 39% shooting. 3-pointers and 88% on free throws.
