Rookie Of The Year? Ja Morant obviously votes for Zach Edey

Yet chosen in 9th position by the Grizzlies, and while many doubt his ability to keep up the pace in the NBA, Zach Edey is one of the favorites for the next Rookie Of The Year trophy. In Memphis, the Canadian giant will take over the place of Steven Adams, transferred to the Rockets, and the former Purdue pivot has a golden opportunity to assert himself. That's Ja Morant's opinion.

“Clearly Rookie Of The Year” Ja Morant answers when asked about his expectations for his teammate. “I think it will be easy.”

Earlier this summer, the two Grizzlies worked out together in Dallas, and Morant was impressed with what he saw from his future lobbing and pick-and-roll partner.

Grizzlies ready to strike from the shadows

“For him to come to me and say he wanted to train with me, and then train all week, that was a big moment for him,” Morant continues. “It made me want to have him in the team. He even improved his qualities.”

With 10 days to go until the restart, the Grizzlies are back at the franchise's facilities for 5-on-5 practice. The group is out for revenge after a completely failed season, and Morant is amused that some have forgotten his incredible level of play.

“Yeah… That’s how it is! But I love it, and I have no problem with it.” he concludes. “I see all this, and I'm not worried. I love it even more. It takes the pressure off me, and it makes things scarier.”
