Rookie Angel Reese already breaks record for consecutive double-doubles in a season

With 23 seconds remaining in the game against Minnesota, it was on a second free throw that Angel Reese managed to beat Candace Parker's record for consecutive double-doubles.

The Chicago rookie thus recorded her 10th point of the evening to accompany her 16 rebounds. During the previous meeting against the Aces, Angel Reese had equaled Candace Parker who had held this record since 2015.

“She's going to keep doing what she's doing because that's her personality. She's always going to give it her all, play with confidence and give you everything she's got,” considers the Sky coachTeresa Weatherspoon. “She is the hardest person on herself, I am so proud of what she does and what she will continue to do.”

An evening to forget for the rest

However, this record was not enough for the Sky, who lost 70-62 to the Lynx. Besides this record, Angel Reese had a very complicated evening since she finished the game at only 4/16 on shots and 2/4 on the free throw line. “I'm sure she would tell you that winning was the most important thing, » confirms Teresa Weatherspoon.

But the scoring problems apply to the entire Sky team, which finished the game at 25/82 on shots. The Chicago players therefore did not make things easy for themselves, converting only 31% of their attempts and only half (7/14) of their free throws.

While Angel Reese still holds the record for consecutive double-doubles in a season, Candace Parker still holds the longest streak of double-doubles in a row. Spanning the 2009 and 2010 seasons, she had 12 games in a row with at least 10 units in two statistical categories. Could this be a new goal in sight before the All-Star Break and the Olympic break? Answer in two games.
