With Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr, Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr. and the 4th pick of the next Draft, the Rockets have talent to work with. It is now a matter of finding a framework to make it progress.
After having hired Ime Udoka to take over from Stephen Silas, the club is clearly targeting veterans and defenders in order to help this youth, which has been left to their own devices in recent seasons, with a lack of mentors in the locker room and defensively invested players on the pitch.
Houston’s dream is first to bring James Harden back to the fold, but The Athletic ensures that the Rockets have other free agents in sight: Brook Lopez, Dillon Brooks, Cam Johnson or even Austin Reaves.
If “The Beard” does not return to Texas, recovering a veteran playmaker would in any case be a priority, and the names of Mike Conley or Chris Paul are mentioned, if the Suns seek to transfer him. Jordan Clarkson and Donte DiVincenzo are also mentioned, although it’s not really the same profile…
