Right arm of Joe Mazzulla, Charles Lee becomes “head coach” of the Hornets

Steve Clifford having decided to leave the Charlotte bench to join the offices, management was looking for his successor, and after meeting a lot of assistants, it was Charles Lee who was chosen !

Faithful assistant to Mike Budenholzer, whom he joined in Atlanta (2014-18) then followed to Milwaukee (2018-23), Charles Lee had a lot of interviews in recent years, everyone being convinced that he would one day become “head coach” within the league. This will be the case next season, at 39 years old.

Currently Joe Mazzulla's first assistant at the Celtics, for his first season away from Mike Budenholzer, Charles Lee will still finish the playoffs with Boston, before then turning to his new position.

In Charlotte, this former fullback who had a modest career in Israel, Belgium and Germany before launching into coaching, has his work cut out for him. The club, which has just been sold by Michael Jordan, has not tasted the first round of the playoffs since 2016.

To revive the team, Charles Lee signed a contract contract. He will be able to rely on LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. Hoping all the same that the first manages to stay away from the infirmary next season.
