Retired from the courts, Gordon Hayward launches into cinema

On Thursday, and to everyone's surprise, Gordon Hayward announced his retirement, aged just 34. “It's hard to leave something behind that you've done for so long and love so much. I don't think anyone can ever really leave basketball.”he begins for IndieWire. “But it was time. I have a family growing very quickly before my eyes, with four children, and it was important for me to spend more time with them.”

It's a second life, after 14 seasons in the NBA, that will open up for the now ex-winger. And we already know in which field it will be registered. Indeed, the former Utah or Boston player will invest his money and time in cinema, with his production company, set up with Simon Hacker, “Whiskey Creek”.

In particular by distributing independent films in theaters and offering opportunities to young directors.

By the way, the first film stamped Whiskey Creek – Notice to Quit with Michael Zegen – is expected in September in American cinemas.

And as he was on the courts, Gordon Hayward wants to be versatile in his cinematic choices.

“I'm open and we're open in different directions: stories that my children can enjoy, stories for my wife and me, for me and my boys,” lists the former All-Star. “We have things planned to satisfy the three areas I mentioned. We are open to many things.”
