Records: 125 internationals, including 14 French, in the NBA!

The series continues, since for the tenth consecutive season, at least 100 international players will make up the various NBA squads, at the start of this 2023/24 financial year.

For the third consecutive season, there will even be at least 120, because we count them very precisely 125 and this simply constitutes a new record !

Among these 125 international players, from 40 different countries and territories, there will be 14 French and, here again, it is a question ofa new record. Outside of the United States, France is also the second best represented foreign country in the league, obviously behind Canada (26) which also established its record for representatives in the NBA. Then follow Australia (9), Serbia (7), Germany (6), Nigeria (5) and Turkey (5).

Dallas and OKC, the most international franchises

Note that there are 64 European players, including the reigning Finals MVP Nikola Jokic and the number one of the last Draft Victor Wembanyama, but also 15 African players, including the reigning MVP Joel Embiid.

As for the most international franchises, it is the Mavericks and the Thunder who dominate this ranking, with 8 international players each. Just ahead of the Spurs (7), Raptors (7), Celtics (6) and Suns (6). In addition, each team includes at least one foreign player in its squad.
