“I had clearly never seen anything like it.” Dallas Wings coach Latricia Trammell had little taste for her team’s serene endgame against Atlanta, in a match cut by ten technical fouls, a new WNBA record.
It was Arike Ogunbowale who conceded the tenth technical foul of the evening, finding herself expelled when she was on the bench at the very end of the game, and her team was heading for victory (85-73). Author of a big first half to finish at 21 points, the back will have made the show until the end by rallying the locker room after having galvanized the crowd and even signed an autograph before leaving.
“I heard a dozen different things. But I don’t know exactly what happened.”said Latricia Trammell about the expulsion of her player, who came out of a game with 41 points. “We will transmit some videos to the league, it is generally how we proceed (…). We just have to keep our cool no matter what decision is made and keep moving forward.”
On arrival, there were five technical whistles for three seconds in defense, (four for Atlanta), but also four individual technical fouls, all against Dallas, with Arike Ogunbowale to close the ball. Before this game, the record for technical fouls whistled in a WNBA game dated back to 2018, with Atlanta already in the game, against New York this time.
