Last week, while the Summer League was in full swing, Joe Wieskamp evoked his uncertain daily life, while he was playing in Las Vegas for his place in the workforce of Raptors for the 2023/24 season.
A week later, the 23-year-old full-back is set: he won’t play Toronto in September.
The Canadian Franchise has indeed released the former Iowa on Monday, a few hours before his contract for the next campaign is guaranteed ($ 1.9 million), on Tuesday. A specialist in outside shooting, Joe Wieskamp failed to convince during the Summer League (27.3% from behind the arc), and must therefore now find a new base.
For the Raptors, the departure of Joe Wieskamp makes it possible to make small savings and above all frees up a place in the workforce. With around 5 million dollars available before reaching the “luxury tax”, the management of the Canadian club can now consider signing a 15th player at a low price.
