Rajon Rondo, Lakers assistant?

Less than two months after formalizing its withdrawal from the field, Rajon Rondo could return to the NBA. Not as a player obviously, but as an assistant. And not just anywhere since his name is circulating at the Lakers where he won his second NBA championship title, in 2020 alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

According to Los Angeles Times, the former All-Star point guard would be part of the list of personalities interviewed by the Lakers for an assistant position. He is not the only one since Rob Pelinka would also be interested in Scott Brooks (ex-Thunder and Wizards), Jared Dudley (assistant to Jason Kidd) and Sam Cassell (assistant to Joe Mazzulla). The last two are still in the running with the Celtics and the Mavericks, and they could take advantage of the game of musical chairs to gain ground in their respective teams.

Still according to the Los Angeles daily, the Lakers began their interviews on Wednesday for the position of “head coach” with James Borrego, former coach of the Magic and the Hornets.

Also on the Cavaliers' shelves, the latter was trained at the Spurs with Gregg Popovich, and this season he was in charge of the Pelicans' offensive systems as first assistant to Willy Green.
