Things continue to move on the NBA benches and in Phoenix in particular, where the Suns are starting from a blank page after the departure of Monty Williams and the arrival of Frank Vogel. The latter kept Kevin Young as first assistant and convinced David Fizdale, his former Lakers assistant, to join him in Arizona from Utah.
Insider Marc Stein slipped that another of his former collaborators is about to follow the same path. It’s video assistant Quinton Crawford, also an old acquaintance of Frank Vogel.
Hired as an assistant video coordinator for the Kings in 2015, Quinton Crawford had caught the eye of Frank Vogel who had poached him the following year to bring him to Orlando.
Promoted to senior video coordinator in 2017, he then followed Frank Vogel to the Lakers from 2019 to 2022. When Frank Vogel was ousted, Quinton Crawford then chose to join… Jason Kidd, Frank Vogel’s assistant in Los Angeles, left for the Mavs. Frank Vogel being back in business, it is therefore almost logical that he surveyed his former assistant to offer him to join an adventure at least as exciting as in Dallas.
Note that the staff of Phoenix will continue to evolve since Jarrett Jack, assistant in charge of the development of the leaders, could join him Monty Williams in Detroit.
