In front of nearly 14,000 spectators, all committed to its cause, Poland won its Olympic pre-qualifying tournament on Sunday. In the final, Michal Sokolowski’s teammates (16 points, 7 rebounds) won 76-72 against Bosnia-Herzegovina in an end to the game marked by a nasty fall by Aleksander Balcerowski.
Having gone to the alley-oop with 40 seconds remaining, the Pole was mowed down in midair by Jusuf Nurkic. Remained on the ground for a long time, Balcerowski finally managed to join the Polish bench, but he remained seated on the bench while his teammates celebrated their victory, synonymous with qualification for the pre-Olympic tournament.
On the Bosnian side, Nurkic-Garza was very clumsy (6 out of 19 on shots), and it’s like the whole team: 34% on shots and 68% on free throws.
