Will the Pistons steal two of the Pelicans' top three leaders? It is on the right track since The Athletic announces that Trajan Langdon, just inducted president of the Detroit franchise, should arrive with Michael Blackstone. The latter is none other than the vice-president of the Pelicans, rather in charge of the administrative part, and he has worked in New Orleans since 2019. At the Pelicans, Blackstone worked both with Langdon, in charge of recruitment as GM, and Dave Griffin, the vice-president in charge of the sports part.
Before that, Michael Blackstone served as executive director of the Cavaliers from 2010 to 2013, then as assistant GM of the Hawks from 2015 to 2019. For management, it is important to operate with a pair on the same wavelength after years of vagueness, whether it be the stormy relations between Joe Dumars and Stan Van Gundy, or recently between Troy Weaver and Monty Williams.
Regarding Weaver, removed from his position as GM, franchise owner Tom Gores offered him to stay at the club in a scouting role. The goal would be to save money and avoid signing him a large compensation check.
