Bronny James won't be the only player selected in the second round to sign a real NBA contract. In Detroit, they chose to bet on Bobi Klintman (2m08, 21 years old) with a similar $8 million contract over four years. Like Bronny at the Lakers, the Swedish winger is guaranteed to earn his first two seasons with the Pistons.
Trained for a year at Wake Forest, Klintman has the distinction of having imitated Alexandre Sarr and having gone to Australia to prepare for the Draft. With the Cairns Taipans, the Swede averaged 9.7 points and 4.8 rebounds in 21 minutes.
“I hope the NBA teams that watched me saw that I wasn't afraid to take on a challenge.” he had explained. “The path I took is a path that not many players are willing to take. It's harder than the college route. I hope NBA teams saw that I was a tough guy. I wanted to prove that I could excel at physical basketball, and I think that's what I did.”
Originally selected by the Wolves in 37th position, he was traded to Detroit along with Wendell Moore Jr..
