THE Pistons had a choice: they could protect, or not, James Wiseman by offering him a qualifying offer to allow them to match any outside offer he receives during the summer. Except that Hoopshype tells us that they do not intend to do so, thereby freeing him to commit wherever he pleases.
At only 23 years old, the 2nd choice of the 2020 Draft therefore arrives at the first big turning point in his young career, since he will test the market without having the guarantee of finding a team. Because his visits to Golden State then Detroit have not won anyone over and he will now have to convince managers to give him another chance, so that he can (finally) take off for good.
The advantage is that the talented James Wiseman seems (and thinks) to still have interesting potential and, since his arrival in the league four years ago, he has averaged 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds (at 56% on shoots and 68% on free throws). A bet to try for a franchise without much financial flexibility.
