Nice early Christmas present as the one made by the Pistons to Troy Weavertheir GM.
In office since 2020, after being poached from the Thunder for four years, he has thus just been extended by the Michigan franchise, for a period still unknown, reports The Athletic. As in coaching (Dwane Casey), Detroit is therefore betting on continuity, while its 54-year-old manager was coming to the end of his contract in 2024.
Under the orders of Troy Weaver, the Pistons are certainly squatting the last places in the Eastern Conference, without managing to find the playoffs since 2019, but they have at least had the merit of recovering several young talents, essential to their reconstruction: Killian Hayes, Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart in 2020; Cade Cunningham and Marvin Bagley III in 2021; Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren in 2022.
All that remains is to wait for this group to exploit its potential, by adding an ultimate nugget (Victor Wembanyama?) and/or surrounding it with veterans. Like Bojan Bogdanovic, the last nice shot from Detroit.
