Philadelphia Mayor Wants to Keep the Sixers

With the Sixers having moved their headquarters and practice facility to Camden since 2016, and their desire to locate their new arena in downtown Philadelphia being hampered by several obstacles, New Jersey would like to take advantage.

Obviously, this has caused a reaction from the municipality. The city's mayor, Cherelle L. Parker, has therefore responded to these latest rumors. “Every team in Philadelphia belongs here and that's my priority as mayor of the city.”, she assures.

Except that time is pressing since the Sixers want to begin construction of their new arena in 2025, to move in in 2031. The agreement, in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, must therefore be reached quickly.

“But the City of Philadelphia has a process in place that we are following and will let play out.”adds Cherelle L. Parker.

The members of the municipality will soon meet to discuss this issue. Is the councilor in favor of building a new hall in the city center? She did not give a clear answer, insisting only on the fact that “Philadelphia teams belong to the city of Philadelphia.”
