Paul George: “The ship is not sinking”

We don't know if it's the fact of having played for the Clippers, but Paul George used a maritime metaphor to talk about the Sixers situation. After eight games, Philadelphia is in last place in the NBA with only one victory. They are the only team to have only won one match this season!

“The ship is not sinking”, assures the Sixers winger. “We know we have to stay positive. We know our big guy is coming back and he's one of the best. We're going to make sure Tyrese (Maxey) is healthy and comes back. Then we can finally be a complete team and start building, and then we can finally start discovering who we are. »

It's true that the Sixers, like the Pelicans or the Grizzlies, are not spared by fate since Joel Embiid has still not played, that Paul George has only just resumed, and that he crossed paths with Tyrese Maxey at 'infirmary.

“We are always positive. We need to be more attentive to details, but we need to continue to stay positive” insists the former Clippers player.

In the East, 12 teams out of 15 have a negative record!

The problem is that the numbers don't work in the Sixers' favor. Never has a team won the title after starting with one victory in eight matches, and over the last five years, only three teams have made the playoffs after such a failed start. The good news is that Joel Embiid will return on Tuesday, against the Knicks, but also that the Sixers are playing in the East where only two franchises have a record greater than 50%.

Clearly, a small series of victories will allow you to quickly return to the Top 8.

“There is no magic formula for us”, warns Kyle Lowry all the same. “We have a lot of work to do. We have to improve offensively. We need to improve defensively. We have to play hard. We must stay positive and not let ourselves get down. These are dark times, but we must find a way to face adversity.
