Pascal Siakam in support of Cameroonian students in Canada

This financial support is a game-changer for people like me », testifies, with the Toronto Stara Cameroonian computer science student at the University of New Brunswick (UNB – first English-speaking public university founded in North America, in 1785 in Fredericton), Canada, who was struggling to make ends meet.

His life is on course to change thanks to the support of his compatriot, Pascal Siakam. The Raptors player has partnered with the McKenna Institute, an entity linked to the establishment mentioned above, for the financing of multi-year scholarships for Cameroonian students in technology courses at UNB. Total amount of the allocated sum : $200,000, with each winner receiving $8,000.

Already last year, the Raptors star’s foundation, PS43, announced a partnership with the University of Toronto to support a dozen law students working with low-income family legal aid structures in Ontario.

My father (note: Tchamo) told me that as a player, an injury can end your career before it even begins. But also that the one thing no one can take away from you is your education. This is why our foundation is committed to supporting the dreams and aspirations of students “, describes the native of Douala in a press release.

This evokes a true privilege “to join” UNB to welcome students from the country where I was born in what I consider to be my own now (Canada) “.

Entering into this partnership was easy as I was blown away by his generosity and knowledge of the tools his country needs “, greeted the founder of the McKenna institute and former premier of New Brunswick, Frank McKenna, after a lunch with the Cameroonian this summer.
