Pacôme Dadiet, the surprise choice of the Knicks

The tests paid off for Pacôme Dadiet. A month ago, the French winger was expected between 35th and 45th place in the Draft, in the second round. But that was without counting on the Draft Combine or the “workouts” organized by the franchises where Dadiet performed so well that he was selected on the first evening in a historic Draft for France.

It will therefore be with the Knicks, who selected him in 25th place, that Pacôme Dadiet will play next season.

“Honestly, the workout went well, so I knew they were interested, but you know, until the last minute, I didn't know where I was going, » confides the one who played in Ulm this season. “I'm very excited to be able to start training here, I can't wait. »

A new winger for the Knicks

Pacôme Dadiet specifies that he intends to play for the Knicks next season. A stay in Europe is not in the winger's plans at the moment. He, who took risks by leaving France at a very young age to play in Germany.

“The course is magnificent. I took a lot of risks”recalls the player who will celebrate his 19th birthday in a month. “I left France at 17 and spent the last two years in Germany and I felt it was a risk. I believed in myself, I worked hard and I remained confident. »

On the other hand, Pacôme Dadiet arrives in a Knicks squad which is loaded on the wings since the Knicks recorded the arrival of Mikal Bridges recently, and OG Anunoby extended his contract just before the Draft. However, the Frenchman will rely on his qualities to find a place in the rotation.

“I am versatile, but I can also bring what a rookie should bring to a team,” he explains. “Like bringing energy, getting a rebound, throwing myself forward quickly, and making shots. It's really important for a rookie to bring these qualities. »
