Except for the arrival of James Wiseman and the departure of Jalen Smith, the Pacers have not moved this summer. They have especially extended Andrew Nembhard, Pascal Siakam and TJ McConnell to continue to surround Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner and ride the successful run in the playoffs, with this conference final against the Celtics.
The core is known and installed, but the pivot will begin the last year of his contract. It is therefore possible to lose him in the summer of 2025, which is not at all in the Pacers' plans.
“We believe a lot in Myles Turner. We want him here”, assures Chad Buchananthe GM of the Indiana franchise. “It is an important part of our identity.”
The complement of Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam
It should be remembered that he is coming off his two best seasons offensively with 18 and 17.1 points on average and personal bests in 3-pts (209 three-point shots scored in two years), while remaining one of the best blockers in the league. Perfect therefore to form a strong trio with Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam.
These numbers also symbolize his progress under the orders of Rick Carlisle, who arrived on the Indiana bench in 2022.
“His progression fits with the Carlisle system,” notes the Pacers leader. “He fits with our playmakers, with Siakam. You can see how he fits perfectly into our style of play. He complements Siakam and Haliburton and it's hard to find someone in the league who does it better.”
Plus, Myles Turner is still only 28 years old, so he still has a lot of good years ahead of him. “He still has some progress to make. He is determined to become a player who protects the rim again, the defensive presence that we need.”warns Chad Buchanan, echoing the player's recent comments about improving his rebounding.
