“ I really want to see the whole person. » Dr. Jaimie Rubin will now try to bring this philosophy to the Pacers. The latter announced her recruitment to the newly created position of Director of Sports Psychology and Team Well-being.
The health professional already has a good deal of experience in the field. She spent five years as a sports psychologist at Premier Sport Psychology, a private practice located in Minneapolis.
There, she primarily served as Assistant Director of Sports Psychology Services for the Minnesota Twins (MLB) and Head Sports Psychologist for the Minnesota Lynx (WNBA).
A specialist in returning from injury
A former athlete and college basketball player herself, Dr. Rubin has worked with student-athletes, teams, coaches and staff at several Division I, II and III institutions, including the University of Oklahoma, American International College and Connecticut College.
Throughout her career, she has been particularly interested in the injury and return-to-play process of athletes, notably within the Injury Rehabilitation Center at Springfield College.
With this appointment, the Pacers, who have already relied on a psychologist responsible for monitoring the team's performance since April 2020, confirm the growing importance given in recent years to the mental well-being of the league's players.
