On April 18, 2001, AC Green played their 1,192nd consecutive game

What if it was one of the most incredible records in NBA history? Without a doubt. Will he fall one day?

On April 18, 2001, for his last game in the regular season and to celebrate his fine career, rich with three NBA titles, AC Green compiled 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists against Orlando.

At the end of the course, at 37 years old, he played much less but that day, he had taken advantage of 37 minutes. The latest, which came to validate one of the most prodigious records in the NBA world.

It was then his 1,192nd game, not in career but played straight away! Since November 18, 1986, the winger / interior had not missed a single meeting. That’s 14 seasons in a row without missing a single game. Not an injury, not an illness, not even a slack for fifteen years. The very definition of “Iron Man”.

And as in his first year, he had played the entire season, the three matches he missed in 1986/87 are the only ones of his career. AC Green was therefore present in 99.7% of possible matches between 1985 and 2001.

He even achieved a rather special performance: playing 83 matches in one season. In 1996-1997, he was transferred to Dallas. If we add 56 matches with the Texans plus the 27 already made with the Suns, we are therefore at 83, one more than the 82 regulations.

To better understand the scope of these figures, it is enough to remember that when AC Green set this record, it erased Randy Smith from the shelves, blocked at 906 games in a row, with 286 more games… that is more than three seasons away.

Finally, to compare, the NBA player who currently has the biggest streak in the regular season remains Mikal Bridges with “only” 392 games…
