Olympic runner-up Gabby Williams returns to WNBA

For a few centimeters, Gabby Williams could have been the great heroine of the Olympic Games… But her buzzer-beater shot was not a 3-pointer, but a 2-pointer, and France lost 67-66 to the United States in the final. Nine days after this legendary encounter, the Franco-American guard returns to the WNBA, and she will once again wear the colors of the Seattle Storm.

It was with this team that she revealed herself in 2022 with a place in the second best defensive five of the year, and a place in the semi-final, before losing to the future champions, the Las Vegas Aces.

Storm are among the outsiders for the title

Last season, Williams played only 10 games due to a stress fracture in her left foot. This year, she opted out of the WNBA to better prepare for the 2024 Olympics. A competition during which she averaged 15.5 points and 5.8 assists, earning a spot in the tournament's top five.

With 17 wins and 10 losses, the Storm is currently 4th in the championship, just behind the Aces. Expected next week in SeattleWilliams will discover two new teammates, Skylar Diggins-Smith and Nneka Ogwumike, and will be reunited with Olympic champion Jewell Loyd and a bronze medalist, Australian Ezi Magbegor.
